UK signs agreement with club of advanced digital democracies

Hot on the heels of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation in Japan with the country's Digital Agency, the UK last night signed the 9th Ministerial Declaration of the Digital Nations, a club of advanced digital governments, as acknowledged in a tweet by Government Digital Service CEO Tom Read.

The UK is a founding member of what was originally known as the 'Digital 5' and hosted its inaugural Summit in London in 2014.

It has since expanded and now includes - Denmark, Estonia, New Zealand, Canada, South Korea, Uruguay, Mexico, Portugal and Israel, alongside the UK. The first five countries on that list were ranked ahead of the UK in the latest E-Government rankings released by the United Nations last week.

The Digital Nations describes itself as a group of the most digitally advanced governments in the world, and they aim to provide a focused forum to share best practices, identify how to improve digital services, and collaborate on common projects. You can read the Digital Nations Charter here.
