The Government Digital Service (GDS) has signed three contracts worth a total of £24 million to support the development of its One Login programme.
Two contracts have been awarded to Deloitte, including a £5 million two-year contract for the mobile app delivery and another two-year contract, worth £9.5 million, that will see the firm adopt the role of capability delivery partner.
The latest notices build on a series of One Login contracts since the programme was first launched in 2021. It comesas the government prepares for the end of its identity system predecessor Gov.UK Verify. New spend is expected to accelerate the development of One Login.
New guidance from government states thatservices can no longer create a new Gov.UK Verify account and they cannot re-register if they have lost access to an existing account. By April 2023, government services will not be able to use an existing GOV.UK Verify account to access any services.
The One Login system will be mandated for use across government, with several government services currently using a beta version, including the first adoption by the Disclosure and Barring Service last year.
The Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) announced it is working with departments to agree plans for the onboarding of all central government services between now and April 2025.
