Emergency Services Network-certified router launched by Cradlepoint

The Emergency Services Network (ESN) is set to replace the current communication network in Great Britain for its emergency services. It is predicted to serve 300,000 front-line emergency service users and connect up to 45,000 vehicles, meaning the ESN will be crucial for emergency workers responding to live crises.

Strong and stable cellular connectivity is crucial to allow emergency responders to access life-saving data, images, and information , enabling them to react quickly and securely no matter where they are.

Cradlepoint's R1900 LTE and 5G ready router has been awarded  certification for use with the ESN, which will enable emergency services personnel to rely on cellular connectivity for mission-critical communications.

The router allows workers to retain connectivity even in areas where ESN coverage may not be available, but carrier connectivity is. Automatic failover using two  SIM cards will enable switching between the ESN and carrier network providing a more resilient connection for emergency workers.

The system allows IT teams to remotely manage routers, networks, and cellular data usage, and plans through a single pane of glass without having to toggle between separate management platforms. Vehicle tracking and live stats on deployments reduce the pressure on IT workers and provide more insightful information to operators. Emergency services are able to reduce management costs, while providing front-line workers with the critical information they need protect communities and save lives.

Mark Page Account Director Public Sector CradlepointSpeaking on the deployment, Mark Page, Account Director Public Sector at Cradlepoint, said "We know the benefit cellular connectivity can bring to emergency services through our work with partners from not just the UK, but also the US and across EMEA. From increased insight on live emergencies to connecting mobile command centres at large events such as festivals and sports matches, cellular connectivity ensures our front-line workers have the information they need to get the job done. By achieving the highest level of certification available on the ESN, combined with the straightforward deployment and management of our routers, we can now ensure that these vital workers have access to the most crucial information and insights to do their jobs, no matter where they are in the country."

The company, which specialises in cloud-delivered 5G and LTE wireless network edge solutions, already has significant experience with US and UK emergency services across the police, fire and rescue and healthcare services.
