Each Discussion Table lasts an hour - prepare in advance for how you'll co-host the session.
We recommend understanding the strengths you and your fellow co-hosts bring to your Discussion Table because that provides the starting point for the value you can provide the delegates who will visit your Discussion Table each session.
Government Transformation Summit has reduced the number of sessions - but extended their duration to one-hour each.
This allows for deeper richer discussions - and we ask that you come prepared with how you want to structure each hour. You can discuss your ideas in your 'Connect Call' with your fellow co-hosts - and also reach out to our Conference Manager James Raddings.
Here's our recommendation for how to run each hour-long session:
Break the ice: Introductions and the scene setter 0-5 mins
Our delegates get to decide which discussion table they want to sit at, so if they’re at your table, you’ve already captured their attention! We recommend kicking off the conversation with introductions and what interests them most about the Discussion Table topic.
Share your story: Share an anecdote that captures the significance of your topic 5-20 mins
Your experience makes you unique. After introductions, we recommend starting with a relatable story about when your topic was mission-critical to your organisation or the citizens you were serving. Allow for up to 5 minutes for each co-host.
Get feedback on whether that story resonates with the experiences of the delegates and ask them about their own experiences.
Explore delegate's key priorities 20-45 mins
What are delegate's key concerns relating to the Discussion Table topic? What are delegates' looking to achieve within the next 6-12 months? What are the biggest challenges in their way, and how do they think deepening their knowledge of this topic might support them moving forward?
Consider whether you’ve faced similar challenges in the past, and how you overcame them.
Get key takeaways and continue the conversation 45 - 60 mins
You and your fellow Co-Hosts should play back what has been heard and what the key takeaways for the Discussion Table are. Feel free to exchange contact details during the closing minutes of the hour-long session. NB. We need to stick to the scheduled agenda to prevent the conference overrunning!
